Muru at the vet and Wendy in Harjavalta

On wednesday this week Muru (and Wendy) went to the veterinarian to get their vaccinations. Wendy did great, got her vaccination and were very proud of herself.

As I told you earlier, Muru has had a problem with her left elbow (arthrosis) and has been limbing. A couple of weeks ago I got her painkillers, but unfortunately they didn’t help at all. So, I now asked the vet what to do. The vet took a look at Muru’s joints and found out that her left elbow is very stiff. She suggested that we should try somekind of injections for the pain, but also told me that the elbow is in quite bad shape and that the injections maybe doesn’t help. I thought about what we should do for a while, but then I realized that the last x-ray picture is taken 6 years ago. So, we booked a time for x-ray next week. After that we probably have to make some decisions…. And very likely also consult the orthopeadic what he thinks about it. Keep your fingers crossed that we can fix this problem in some kind of way!

Today Wendy entered the dogshow in Harjavalta. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t on our side, and it was raining… Wendy were completely wild when I took her out of the car, and even if I tried to tire her out a little bit and get her to calm down I just couldn’t get her to trottle. In the ring she was jumping around and had so much fun!:) Well, in the end I got her to trottle a couple of steps… The judge for the day, Cristian Stavarache from Romania, was a bit weird. He didn’t touch the dog at all! I even had to show him Wendy’s teeth myself. Here comes the judging (strange words and the secretary had a bad handwriting):

”In type, in size (?). Scissor bite. The muzzle should be a bit more. Backline in level. Legs medium size bones in stand. Metharanpus (?) joint should be more strong. Good temperament. Good movement sometimes.” I also herd him say that Wendy doesn’t have enough coat, but obviously the secretary didn’t find this so important and didn’t write it down…

Could someone explain this Metharanpus word to me? I tried to look it up, but I can’t find it anywhere… Even the secretary didn’t know this word and the judge wrote it down for her. Maybe a Romanian word?

Quite a day I would say!:)

Vasa int dogshow

Last weekend we entered the dogshow in Vasa. Unfortunately I didn’t have the camera with me, so no pictures this time. We had a great time and the dogs did okay in the ring also.

The judge for the day was Marit Sunde from Norway. Wendy entered junior class, she got excellent and won her class. Unfortunately no ck. This is what the judge says about Wendy:

”14 months. Nice young lady. Good type. Typically developed for her age. Feminine head and expression. Prominent shoulder. Good body. Typical movement for her age. Sufficient coat. Good structure. Nice temperament.”

Actually I’m very pleased with that judging!

Helga entered the champion class, she got excellent and became third in her class. No ck this time either. Actually none of the bitches in champion class got ck! Well, well. This is Helgas judging:

”4 years. Very good type and size. Lovely head and expression. Adequately angulated. Good body, a bit short in loin. Good movement. Good coat and structure. Lovely temperament”

This was the first time EVER someone has said that Helga is short in loin, she has always been a bit long in loin!! Ha,ha!

Next show will be a group show in Harjavalta in the beginning of May. Only Wendy is entering that show.

Otherwise we are doing quite good. Muru has had a problem with her elbow and is now on painkillers, hope she will get better soon. Pico is doing great! :)

Have a good time!

A great time

We have had such a great summer! I’m sorry I haven’t had time to update my blog a little oftener, but I hope I’m going to have a little more time for that now.
Pico and Pinja
We were happy to meet Pico’s sister Pinja in the summer, when they were in Vaasa competing in agility. It is just amazing how different two siblings can be! :) I’m so amazed about Pinja, she is in such good conditing for being 10 years old. They did great in the competition in Vaasa, and a few weeks ago they were competing in Åland, once again with great success! Way to go Pinja and Lena!
Dumle and Della
At the same time we also met Pico’s grandchildren Dumle and Della (from same litter). So similar and so cute! :)

From the left: Dumle, Della, Taika, Pinja, Kelly and Pico. Family reunion! :)

In the end of august we drove to southern Finland to meet Helga’s and Wendy’s breeder, attend a dogshow and meet Wendy’s siblings. I was so excited and looked forward to this trip very much. Unfortunately Wendy was unlucky to get a urinary infection once again just the same week, so she couldn’t attend the dogshow. Helga hasn’t been to a show for over a year and did attend champions group for the first time. She was handled by the breeder, Ella, and did great! She got exc/1 + sa. The judge, Frank Kane, said:
”3 years. Of good size and proportions. With good stride. Could be a little firmer in topline, but she has a lot of breed type and quality.”

The same day we were happy to meet Wendy’s siblings. 6 of 8 puppies were able to meet us. I was so excited to see them, the last time I saw them they were 7 weeks old. They all looked great, the have developed very nicely and have such good families. A big thank you to Ella, Leena, Mirja, Laura and Ansku for coming to meet us!

I’m so happy about this litter. These puppies are just fantastic already! Can’t wait to see what these great boys and girls can achieve! :)

More holiday, birthdays and news

We have had such a wonderful holiday, both we and the dogs have enjoyed it soooo much! With Wendy we have trained some obedience at home. Helga has been a couple of times competing in agility. Much fun but not any very good results to talk about.

The dogs were staying with our parents while we took a holidaytrip with some friends. They had had very much fun, but Wendy had been a bit difficult to deal with. She really thinks that she has to bark at people, not staying in the garden and running around everywhere else. Sometimes I think her ears has fell of, she is not listening at all… Huh! Our little teenage! :)

Wendy and Helga swimming

Wendy got to take her first trip by boat a couple of weeks a go. She thought it was quite exciting, but mostly I think she waited for us to stop so she could take a bath. She just loves water!

More swimming

Can you imagine, this girl became 6 months yesterday! The scale said 13,5 kg and I think she is about 46 cm.

While we were on our holiday trip, The Best Man Ever had his birthday. My darling Pico became 10 years! Happy birthday! We hope we will have many more years together! Many greetings to his siblings also! We got a message from Pico’s sister Pinja, telling that they are coming to Vaasa this week to compete in agility. Amazing, Pinja is still going strong! :)
Pico The Man

We also got great news about some of Wendy’s siblings. Her sister, Iines, attended Eukanuba Open Show 22.7 being BOB-puppy. Huge congrats Mirja and Iines!:) A couple of days later we heard great news from Denmark, Wendy’s brother Sumi was BOB baby puppy at the Danish BC club show. Fantastic! Congrats Lena and Sumi! :)

At the same time Helga’s sister, Sydney, also attended a show in Denmark being BOB and getting the title Danish showchampion! Congrats to Ella and Sydney! Great!:)

A cute Helga being so happy and proud about her sister and her babies!:)

Wendy is going to attend her first show in the end of august. At the same time we will stay att the breeder’s for a couple of days, and I hope I will get the chance to meet as many as possible of Wendy’s siblings.

The holiday is ower for now, and I got back to work this week. Luckily there is still summer left, and we are trying to be outside as much as possible.

On a vacation

We are on a vacation and that’s why I haven’t had time to update the blog. Anyway, we are doing great! :) The weather has been fantastic and we have spent a lot of time outside. With Helga we have been competing some agility, without any bigger success, but still we have had so much fun and a great time together.

Little Wendy had a rough start of the vacation getting a urine infection. Well, she got antibiotics and is doing great now. The little girl has grew a lot and is now 13 kg and 45 cm. I’m so excited to see how much more she will grow… She is learning new things all the time, which is so much fun. She has also been trying the rules of the house and this is something we are still working with. She also found her voice and thinks barking is soooo much fun!

We also got to meet this sweety, Peppi 9 weeks

She is just soooo sweet this little girl! <3

As you can see, we are having a great summertime! Next week we are packing a camper and going for a trip around Finland with some friends. Unfortunately, the dogs can not come with us, but I am sure they are going to have a great time staying at our parents’ houses.

Hope you all have a great summer!

Some news

I wrote the longest blog ever last week, and for some reason it all disappeared! :( So, I try to remember something of what has happened….
In the end of May Muru attended the dogshow in Harjavalta. She hasn’t been in the showring for many, many years (mainly because of the arthrosis and limbing..). Now she attended veteranclass for the first time.
Muru posing
The judge Igor Selimovic from Croatia thought Muru was quite nice:
”Good condition. Excellent head expression. Good body structure. Good colour. Typical movement”.
This gave us the result Exc/2 + ck. :) I really hadn’t expected a result of this kind, so I’m so happy about it!
Dumle (Pico’s grandchild), Pico and Muru
The summer is here and the dogs were allowed to start swimming. Even little Wendy learned how to do, and she is really enjoying the water! :)

Wendy and Helga swimming

Wendy has been with me and Helga to the agilitycourse a couple of times. Of course she also had to learn a little agilitystuff.
Learning the contacts
Wendy in the tunnel
We also attended a match-show with Wendy last week. Once again she behaved very good and let the judge touch her without a problem. She did get the blue ribbon again and we ended up in third place.
Wendy in the ring
This weekend we have spent in agilitycompetitions with Helga. On saturday we did two courses, in both we got 5 points and ended up in second place. Today, sunday, we did three courses. From two we got 10 points and the last one got disqualified…. At this point I start to be pretty fed up. I want the last result from class one soooo badly!!!

We are continuing enjoying the nice weather! :)

Agility debut and show debut

After a break of over 6 months, Helga did her agility debut this year on friday. We attended an unofficial competition just to check how she is doing on the course. She did great, got 5 points and ended up second in her class. I’m quite satisfied with that at the moment… We are starting officially 2.6 in Kokkola.

My loved ones <3

My little girl is suddenly a big girl, 4 months old, and did her debut in the showring today. With Wendy we attended an unofficial match-show just to train the ”showbehaviour”, how to stand, run, show the teeth and so on. She was such a nice little girl, did listen to me very good and did very nice in the ring. She let the judge look at her and touch her very nicely. The running wasn’t great, but it was good. So, if you consider she is only 4 months I think it was good. We did run towards another blue bordercollie male and Wendy got the blue ribbon. Finally she ended up in third place. :)

A very proud Wendy!

We have had so much fun this weekend and I hoped it would never end. Unfortunately it is Monday again tomorrow…. Well, only 5 weeks until summer holiday!:)
